PRELIMINARY TASK
GENRE OF MY PRACTICE MUSIC VIDEO
The soft, country-influenced song "July" is a sharp departure from the trap-pop she was recording just a year ago. It's not a bad change, though; "July" is a tender ballad about heartbreak that doesn't try to brag when it doesn't have to. Instead, Cyrus' smokey, pained vocals are front and center, supporting her when she needs some force.
IDEA AND NARRATIVE CONSTRUCTION
We really wanted to choose a music video that evoked self-discovery and awareness. That was well captured in the music video for "July," so we chose to use it as the song. We wanted to give this video a specific component in terms of human emotions as we were filming it, and that component was "learning the art of letting go." Therefore, as our model packs up her belongings and departs at the end of the video we took, it serves as a metaphorical demonstration that she has accepted her fate and is prepared to let go and go on.
PRE-PRODUCTION
MOODBOARD
In my mood board, I wanted to depict regret and sorrow as well as how a person could be impacted by these feelings that they experience on a daily basis but keep hidden from those around them. Additionally, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a southern Midwest desert.
SHOT LIST
LOCATION RECCE
FOOTAGE SELECTION
While we were shooting, I took 48 raw video shots, in this, we had practice shots as well as extra shots as well, from this we finalised 27 shots for our mockup music video. Those 28 shots were thus then uploaded on google drive so we don't lose them as we also so we could access them easily when it came to the editing process.
