Hip Hop and Rap

The primary way that hip-hop and rap music are defined is as stylized rhythmic music with the quick-rhyming singing style known as rap. The origins of the two genres can be found in the mid-1970s Afro-American and Latino ghettos in the United States. With breakdancing, MCing, DJing, and graffiti, the music has a distinct culture of its own.

Rock

One of the most varied musical genres, rock emerged in the 1950s in the United States and later in Great Britain under the primary influence of blues music as well as gospel, country, and jazz. It is described as a bass guitar, drums, vocals, and electric guitar-dominated genre. Rock music frequently has a fast pace, upbeat vocals, a powerful backbeat, and guitar solo breaks. Rock & roll was the initial subgenre, but as it gained popularity, other subgenres emerged, including punk, hard rock, independent rock, alternative rock, and many more. It remains one of the most popular genres today, although not being as well-liked as it was from the 1960s to the 1990s.
